Privacy Policy
How Sink In Serenity handles your information. Short version: minimally, transparently, and only for what’s necessary to run the site.
The short version
Sink In Serenity is a small, independent home interior design blog. We collect the minimum amount of information needed to operate the site, respond to your emails, and send newsletters to the people who subscribe. We don’t sell your data, we don’t share it with marketers, and we don’t track you across the internet.
If you don’t subscribe to our newsletter and don’t email us, the only information we have about you is what your browser sends to our hosting provider — the same information any website you visit receives automatically.
Information we collect
Automatic information. When you visit Sink In Serenity, our hosting provider (Hostinger) automatically logs basic technical information including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the pages you visit, the time of your visit, and the website you came from (referring page). This is standard server logging used for security, analytics, and troubleshooting.
Information you provide. If you subscribe to our newsletter, contact us via email, or leave a comment, we collect the information you give us — typically your name and email address. We use this only for the purpose you provided it for.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics (via Site Kit) to understand which content readers find useful. Google Analytics may set cookies on your browser and collect anonymized data about your session. You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time using Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
How we use information
- To operate the site, including security and performance monitoring
- To respond to messages you send us
- To send newsletters to subscribers who explicitly opted in
- To analyze aggregate, anonymous traffic patterns and improve our content
- To comply with legal obligations when required
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not build user profiles to retarget you with ads.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses cookies in a few places:
- Essential cookies — required for basic site functionality (e.g., remembering you’re logged in if you’re an administrator).
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics sets cookies to measure aggregate traffic. These contain no personally identifiable information.
- Affiliate tracking — when you click an affiliate link (e.g., to Amazon or Wayfair), the destination retailer may set a tracking cookie to credit Sink In Serenity for the referral if you complete a purchase. You can clear cookies or block them via your browser’s privacy settings. Blocking cookies may affect site functionality and our ability to receive referral credit on affiliate purchases.
Third-party services
To operate Sink In Serenity, we use the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:
- Hostinger — website hosting and server logs
- Google Analytics — anonymized traffic analytics
- Amazon Associates and other affiliate networks — commission tracking on affiliate links
- Email service providers — newsletter delivery (subscribers only)
- Google Fonts — typography (may receive request data for font delivery)

Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access any personal information we hold about you (typically just your email if you’ve subscribed or contacted us)
- Correct any information that’s inaccurate
- Delete your information from our records
- Unsubscribe from newsletters at any time using the link in any newsletter email
- Opt out of analytics tracking using the methods linked above

Data retention
We keep newsletter subscriber emails for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your email is removed from our active list within 7 days. Contact form emails are kept for as long as is reasonable to maintain a record of correspondence. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider per their standard retention policies (typically 30 days for access logs).
Children’s privacy
Sink In Serenity is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
International readers
If you’re visiting Sink In Serenity from outside the country where our servers are hosted, your information may be transferred to and processed in a different jurisdiction. By using the site, you consent to such transfer. We comply with the relevant requirements of GDPR (European Union) and equivalent data protection laws.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in how we operate, new services we adopt, or changes in applicable law. Material changes will be noted with a revised “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For substantial changes, we’ll post a notice on the homepage and email newsletter subscribers.
